Party Game Central

A game where you want the tetherball to spin around the pole until it can't spin any further.

Game type:

Active. A lot of movement may be required.

2 players

Pole (10 feet high) with a tetherball attached to the top by a string about 7-8 feet long

This game needs two players and a pole (approximately 10') with a tetherball attached to the top by a string about 8' long. These can be located at many school playgrounds or can be made using a pole, tire and concrete. Players stand on opposite sides of the pole. Players must choose a server. The server gets to choose their serving direction, either clockwise or counter-clockwise. One player serves by throwing the ball in the chosen direction. The other player, standing on the other side of the pole, tries to hit the ball back the other direction with his hand(s). They then continue knocking it back and forth, each trying to keep it going their direction.

Someone wins when the ball goes their direction so far that the ball hits the pole and stops spinning.

Players can make the game of tetherball more interesting by adding additional rules at the beginning of the game:
1. One-handed hits
2. Fists only
3. One foot must be off the ground when hitting the ball
4. Categories - players must list off chosen categories before hitting the ball (e.g.. if the category is fruits, you have to yell out banana, orange, or pineapple etc.) If a player can't think of one, the other player gets one free revolution before the ball can be hit again.
