MAUL BALL

Objective:

A game where tackling and trickery are fair game to prevent the ball from crossing the goal.

Game type:

Active. A lot of movement may be required.

Players:

4 or more players

Needed:

Any kind of sports ball (basketball, football, soccerball etc)

The group first chooses a goal line. This could be a marker, a tree etc. All players start about 100 feet from the goal with the ball on the ground an equal distance from the players. At the starting signal, all players rush to the ball. One person should get the ball and carry the ball towards the goal. All other players assault (maul) the ball carrier attempting to seize control of the ball. Chases, tackles, intimidation, trickery are all fair game. Once the ball has changed hands, the new ball carrier is the target. The game is played until 1) someone crosses the goal line 2) all are exhausted or 3) someone is injured.
